Our Anchor Markets on the Wasatch Front
The Wasatch Front — the 120-mile corridor from Brigham City through Salt Lake City to Provo — is where we concentrate our permanent crews, equipment yards, and material storage. Salt Lake County and Utah County together account for roughly 80% of Utah's population and the largest concentration of commercial and residential exterior work in the state. We run full crews in both counties year-round, not as a drive-in market.
Our Salt Lake County anchor cities: Salt Lake City, Sandy, West Jordan, Draper, South Jordan, Murray, Midvale, Taylorsville, West Valley City, Kearns, Magna, Holladay, and Cottonwood Heights. Our Utah County anchor cities: Provo, Orem, Lehi, American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain, Spanish Fork, Payson, and Springville. In these markets we can typically schedule a site assessment within 24 to 48 hours and deliver a written quote the next business day.
Drive-Time Radius from Salt Lake City
We use drive time, not straight-line miles, to define our service area because the Wasatch Range makes east-west travel times very different from what the map suggests.
- Under 30 minutes: Full Salt Lake Valley, most of the Jordan Valley, and the northern Utah Valley to Lehi and Saratoga Springs. No travel surcharge. Same-day emergency boarding-up available in this zone.
- 30 to 60 minutes: Provo, Orem, Spanish Fork, Springville, Payson in Utah Valley; Davis County (Bountiful, Centerville, Farmington, Kaysville, Layton); most of Tooele County including Tooele city. Minimal or no travel surcharge depending on job size.
- 60 to 90 minutes: Weber County (Ogden, Roy, Clearfield, Syracuse); eastern Summit County (Park City, Snyderville); Wasatch County (Heber City, Midway). Travel surcharge typically applies on jobs under $5,000 in value — discussed transparently at quote time.
- Over 90 minutes: Cache County (Logan), Box Elder County (Brigham City), Carbon County (Price), and St. George. We take jobs in these areas when our schedule permits, often batching multiple jobs in the same region. Travel and overnight accommodation are passed through at cost with zero markup.

Bountiful, Centerville, Farmington, Kaysville, Layton, Syracuse, Clearfield. Davis County commercial and residential work is served from our Salt Lake City base. No travel surcharge on jobs over $3,000 in value.
Weber County
Ogden, Roy, Washington Terrace, South Ogden, Riverdale, Harrisville. Weber County projects are typically scheduled in batches to maximize crew efficiency on the 40-minute drive from Salt Lake. We are active in the Ogden commercial corridor and the Standard-Examiner office park area.
Tooele County
Tooele city and the Stansbury Park corridor. West-facing properties in Tooele County see higher UV and wind-borne abrasive loads from the Great Salt Lake Desert — we factor that into our material recommendations. Travel surcharge applies only for jobs under $3,500.
Summit County
Park City, Snyderville Basin, Kimball Junction. Summit County properties at 6,500 to 7,000 feet elevation face UV intensities and snow loads significantly above the valley. Commercial siding, storefront, and window work in Park City requires materials rated for higher snow load and UV exposure than standard Wasatch Front spec. Travel surcharge applies; call for specifics.
Wasatch County
Heber City and Midway. A fast-growing resort and retirement community corridor where new construction and remodeling demand for exterior work is high. We serve both commercial and residential clients in Wasatch County; travel surcharge applies for smaller jobs.
Cache County
Logan, North Logan, Providence, Hyde Park, Smithfield. Cache Valley is 80 miles north of Salt Lake City and sees an inversion climate similar to the Salt Lake Valley in winter — high freeze-thaw frequency and EIFS drainage requirements apply. We accept Cache County commercial projects when scheduling permits, typically batching two or more jobs per trip.
Box Elder County
Brigham City, Tremonton, Perry. Primarily commercial work in the I-15 corridor. Contact us for availability and travel terms.
Utah Service Coverage
Primary service area (highlighted): Salt Lake County, Utah County — daily crews, 24–48 hr scheduling.
Extended area: Davis, Weber, Tooele, Summit, Wasatch, Cache, Box Elder — by schedule, travel terms apply.
How We Work Outside the Wasatch Front
Black Canyon Exteriors is headquartered in the Salt Lake Valley. Our full equipment inventory — siding crews, scaffold, gutter roll-formers, window glazing equipment — lives here. For jobs beyond our 30-minute service radius, we work differently than we do in our anchor markets, and we want you to understand how before you commit.
Travel Surcharge Policy
Jobs over 60 miles from Salt Lake City carry a travel surcharge when the job value is under a minimum threshold (currently $4,000 for residential, $7,500 for commercial). The surcharge reflects actual drive time, fuel, and the partial-day lost to travel — it is quoted as a flat amount, not a percentage, and it is disclosed in your estimate before you accept. On larger jobs the surcharge is waived because crew productivity on a full-day or multi-day out-of-valley job absorbs the travel cost.
Regional Partner Network
For projects in southern Utah (St. George, Cedar City, Moab), eastern Utah (Price, Vernal), and the far corners of the state where a Black Canyon crew is not the practical choice, we maintain referral relationships with vetted regional contractors. We do not take a finder's fee from referrals; we pass your contact directly to the contractor we trust in that area. Initial Quotes via Video Assessment
For potential clients in Weber, Davis, Summit, and Wasatch counties — and occasionally in Cache County — we offer an initial quote based on a video walkthrough before scheduling a paid site visit. You walk us through the property on a video call, we take dimensional measurements from photos and a shared measurement reference, and we produce a rough-order-of-magnitude estimate. If the estimate is in range for your budget, we schedule a site visit and produce the final itemized quote. This saves you the uncertainty of waiting for an in-person visit before knowing whether the numbers work.
